Match Report – 25th November – Aldeburgh

The Club’s latest match was fished at Aldeburgh in strong Southerly winds.   There was plenty of colour in the water and initially a cloudy sky that eventually cleared providing good conditions for cod.  Chris Leonard found 4 which added to 10 whiting gave him 359 fish points and first place.  Second spot went to Paul Drake although he had no cod his 17 whiting were worth  244 fish points.  Robin Joy took third place with 2 codling, 7 whiting and a small bass for 235 fish points.

Match Report – 11th November – Orford

Conditions were far from ideal for the target species cod with bright sunshine and little colour in the water.  Fishing the ebb it was whiting all the way with the occasional dab and dogfish taking the  worm baits.  New member Barry O’Connor on his first trip to Orford was having to adjust his fishing skills to catch whiting as he hails from South Africa where he is used to catch larger fish.  Barry managed a creditable third place with 13 whiting and 3 dabs for 268 fish points.  Second place went to Paul Drake with a catch of 26 whiting 5 dabs and a dogfish for 545 fish points.  Top spot went to Barrie Senior whose catch of 28 whiting, 2 dabs, 2 dogfish and a pout for 659  fish points included a fine specimen whiting of 47cm that weighed 2lb 2oz.  With three matches left to fish Robin Joy on 111 points is currently at the top of the leader board for the annual Points Cup awarded to the angler with the most match points over the year, closely followed by Paul Drake with 101 points.
