Match Report – Bexhill-on-Sea – September

A group of Braintree Sea Angling Club members travelled down to Bexhill-on-Sea for a weekends fishing and their latest match. On both days they had bright sunny weather with an offshore wind on day one and an onshore wind for the competition on the day two. In spite of the very bright conditions the whiting were feeding both days with the occasional pout, bass and smoothhound amongst them. Best fish was a whiting of 45cm for Paul Drake on the first day. On match day fishing in sandy patches between rocks the anglers found lots of whiting taking their local lug baits some tipped with squid, also a few fish came to peeler crab. Barrie Senior ended the day with 63 whiting, one smoothhound and pout for 823 fish points to win the match. In second place was Paul Drake with 44 whiting, one smoothhound and a pout for 823 fish points. Third spot went to Robin Joy with 27 whiting and two smoothhounds.
