Match Report – Aldeburgh – 30th March

Aldeburgh was the venue for Braintree Sea Angling Club’s latest match fishing for the Alf Reed Cup.  The bright conditions didn’t put the fish off feeding although the couple of hours over high water were not very productive. With small whiting and codling taking the lug and squid baits the anglers soon filled their match cards.  Thanks to a late run of fish in the final stages of the match that added 10 scoring fish to his card in the last hour Barrie Senior overtook Paul Drake to win the match and take the cup with 25 whiting, 5 codling, 1 flounder and a rockling for 300 fish points.  It was a close match with Paul amassing 284 fish points from his catch of 28 whiting, 5 codling, 1 rockling and a pout.  Third place went to Robin Joy with 8 whiting, 3 codling 3, 1 rockling and a pout for 191 points.

Members were sad to hear that Jimmy Turner the Club President passed away at the weekend.  Jimmy was the last of the original members of the Club and he will be missed by those members who knew him well.  Our thoughts go out to his family.
