Match Report – 9th November – Orfordness

The omens were not good for Braintree Sea Angling Club’s latest match at Orfordness. Reports from anglers who had fished overnight were of heavy crab activity and few fish this combined with the constant rain expected all morning was not encouraging. However, the overnight strong winds had died down, sea conditions were good and the anglers were soon catching fish. Codling, whiting and dogfish with an occasional pout were taking the lug and squid baits. Except for the period over high tide fish came in all through the match. The final tally at the end of the day was six codling, ten dogfish, seventeen whiting and five pout for 1108 fish points to Barrie Senior first place. Nine codling, four dogfish and eight whiting, 833 fish points for second places angler Robin Joy with third place Chris Leonard who had five codling, three dogfish, nineteen whiting, three pout and a bass for 607 points.
