Match Report – 14th December – Orford

Braintree Sea Angling Club members travelled to Orford to fish for the Braintree and Witham Times Cup.  After recent strong winds the sea had plenty of colour in it and looked good for the target species cod.  Fishing lug or lug and squid baits the anglers were soon into fish with whiting being caught from the start.  A few cod were caught on the flood tide but it was the ebb when they began to feed and all anglers had three or more.  Barrie Senior had nine cod which together with twenty five whiting and a pout gave him 891 fish points to take the match and the cup.  In second place was Paul Drake with a catch of three cod, thirty seven whiting and two pout for 678 fish point.  Third placed angler was Chris Leonard with 574 fish points from his catch of five cod, twenty one whiting and three dabs.  The next match is scheduled for Dunwich and 21 December.
