Beach Match - Fur and Feather
Orfordness Narrows

Day Match - 14 December 2008

Detail

In their penultimate match of the year BSAC members fished their Xmas Fur and Feather match from Orfordness (Narrows).    Conditions were ideal, gentle breeze, dry,  cloudy sky, coloured sea and a good tide.  The fishing on the other hand was unexplainably difficult with very few fish caught and very strong tide pull making it almost impossible to hold bottom.  Chris Leonard managed to win the day (and the whiskey) with a catch including Cod and Whiting  (largest cod 3lb 14oz),  Kevin Thorpe came second (brace of Pheasant) with a catch of  Cod, Whiting and Bass (cod 6lb 8oz) and 3rd place went to Andy Gaskin (Rabbits).  The fur and feather prizes were donated by Tim Maples (brace of Pheasant, and pair of Rabbits) and Kevin Thorpe (Whiskey).  With the festive fare prizes and some Cod an enjoyable match for all members.

Day Match - 12th October 2008

Detail

Conditions were far from ideal when Braintree Sea Angling Club members arrived at Felixstowe for their latest beach match. Following the previous few days of good weather and light offshore winds sea conditions were calm but there was no colour in the water. The heavy mist did not clear until lunch time. Fishing was tough with not all anglers finding fish, for those that did it was just a single undersize fish. Both Chris Leonard and Barrie Senior had a single codling each with Chris's being slightly larger for him to win the match. In third place was Peter Costin with a small bass.
