The BSAC Boat Section

The fixture list includes several boat matches as a number of members have their own boats. Matches are normally 6 hours with up to 2 rods allowed.

The boats used by the Club cover most of the range available to the small boat owner including, Alaska, Orkney (Day Angler, Strikeliner), SeaHog, SeaJeep and Warrior's.

The Boat matches contribute to the Boat League Table and there are also cups on certain matches up for grabs.  The members also do not restrict to themselves to Club matches and will fish friendly matches as well as events like the NFSA Small Boat match.  Matches are also fished against other Sea Angling Clubs.

The Club Boat

The Club own a 17ft open dingy powered by a new 15hp Yamaha outboard. The boat is used primarily to ferry members over to Orfordness and is capable of carrying 8 members and all their tackle. Club Boat photo
Although the Club's boat normally gets used for ferrying members across to Orfordness but is also capable of fishing up to four anglers. However, without a cuddy it's normally only used during the warmer months.

Boat Venues

The matches are normally based from Felixstowe Ferry on the river Deben, just north of Felixstowe, for information on the Deben and Ore entrance, see the Boat Venues. This gives access to a wide range of marks providing both summer and winter sport. Well known marks include Rough Towers, Cork sands, Wallet, Cutler bank, and in good conditions, the Sunk.
