 In the interests of conservation:-

1) Tope and smoothound will not count and cannot be weighed in.

2) Competitors are encouraged to keep any fish they don’t want for the table alive, so that they can be returned.

3) Please leave any unwanted dead fish after the weigh in, with the organisers for disposal. Do not return dead fish in the marina.


Notes

1) The starting point will be the Levington marina.

2)The NFSA shield will go to the highest placed pair of NFSA members.

3) First prize will go to the winning boat (anglers to fish in pairs) and will be decided on the number of species .In the event of a tie on species the heaviest bag weight will prevail. Only one fish of each species is to be brought to the scales. Further prizes will depend on the number of entrants. There will be optional sweeps for the best round and best specimen.

4) The cost of launching and parking (£10) is included on the entry form.

5) The allowed fishing area lies within a 12 mile radius of Landguard point. The organisers reserve the right to limit the fishing area further in the event of bad weather.

Rules 2006

1) The match is open to everyone.

2) Boats must be readily trailable, of rigid construction and at least 13ft in length.

3) Each angler is permitted to use 2 rods with reel, line and trace attached. A spare rod may be taken but must not be assembled and must be kept below the gunwale line.

4) Spare baited traces are allowed and no more than 2 hooks may be attached to any trace. Treble hooks are not allowed. A maximum of 3 hooks between the 2 rods can be used.

5) All baits, feathers and lures may be used.

6) Any anglers attempting to weigh in undersize fish will be disqualified. All undersize fish must be returned immediately to the water. Competitors are encouraged to keep their fish alive in sea water. Any attempt to extend their length will lead to disqualification.

7) The deliberate foul hooking of fish is not permitted. Accidental foul hooked fish are allowed.

8) All boats used in the competition must carry safety equipment for all persons on board as specified in the Seaway code. Only competitors shall be allowed on the boat and there must be 2 competitors on board.

Each boat must carry the following equipment:-

*           Main engine. Oars and rowlocks or auxiliary engine.

*           Compass.

*           A life jacket or flotation suit per person.

*           Anchor and 50 metres of rope.

*           VHF radio.

*           Spare spark plugs and tool kit.

*           Towline.

*           Spare shear pin if appropriate.

*           Two in date distress flares.

Boats are strongly advised to carry the following:-

*           radar reflector

*           black anchor ball

*           Adequate insurance.

*           Spare fuel.

*           First aid kit.

*           Navigation lights.

*           Spare anchor and warp.

9) Each boat may be checked by scrutinizers immediately prior to launching, who will have the right to inspect all bags and equipment. Any competitors failing to comply will be disqualified.

10) The area to be fished will be decided by the organisers. The organisers reserve the right to change the fishing areas at any time.

11) All boats must be afloat and assembled at the designated competition start point fifteen minutes before the starting time. On the given signal competitors may proceed to their chosen fishing mark but must not start fishing before the official starting time.

12) All competitors must hand their catch to a steward at the launch site, within 90 minutes of the end of the fishing time. Any fish handed over after that time will be discounted. Competitors will be on their trust not to fish outside the stated match times.

13) Each pair of competitors must weigh in their catch, or if they have caught nothing report to the weighmaster accordingly. The weigh in will take place at the slipway.

14) Any complaint must be submitted to the organisers in writing within one hour of the end of the competition. A protest fee of £10 must accompany the complaint, returnable only if the objection is upheld. The decision of the organisers will be final in the event of a dispute not covered by these rules.

15) The rules of fair play will apply. Competitors must conduct themselves in a manner within the spirit of the sport.

16) The organisers reserve the right to refuse entry and to disqualify any anglers found breaking these rules. The organisers shall not be held responsible for any loss accident or damage occasioned to any competitor, official or member of the public.

17) In the event of a poor weather forecast the competition will be cancelled in the evening prior to the competition day and will be rescheduled for the following Sunday. Should the weather again be bad the competition will be cancelled and all monies refunded.
